UNBELIEVABLE SIGHTS

My husband and I just got back from going to Gulfport Mississippi and New Orleans and the damamge left behind from Katrina is just mind blowing-seeing it on tv doesnt do it justice-its way worse in person and so so sad of all the destruction. I feel so sorry for those folks whose lives were effected by this storm. It is going to take forever to get back to semi normal. The beautiful homes that once lined the streets in Gulfport and Biloxi are all gone-the cemetarys had headstones, tombs etc.all just crashed upon one another-the floating casinos that once use to be in the ocean are thrown all the way across the streets in ruins, the churches are gutted and just have the steeples standing-the few people we did see on their lots were living in thier lil fema motor homes and cooking outside on grills...they need so much help-there is a lot of contracters there but nearly not enough for the damage there. We did find a hotel that opened up thier 3rd floor which was actually nicely redone but honestly we cant stop coughing since we've been back-Biloxi does have 2 casinos that just opened-halfway-so if you would like to support these towns and like to gamble-spread the word that they are trying to bring these towns back to life and need help....the beaches there are so pretty and its so eerie seeing everyones clothes and belongings wrapped around the trees that are still standing.....

New Orleans~driving down I10 there is still wrecked and abandon cars on the highway-there are boats in the middle of the highway and ditches-that was really eerie seeing whole neighborhoods abandon and the cars left behind are all black from being under water or crushed or vandelized-the homes are all destroyed and you can see on some of the roofs were people made holes to escape-just so sad!!!

The French Quarter~it looked like nothing hit it-it is so weird to see how well it handled the storm and the life is starting to come back into-there was a lot of people there and a lot of things were open...I dont understand how well it held up....

We took a bunch of pictures but of coarse they dont do justice to what its really like...i will scan them soon and share them...I really hope those places can rebuild-that could be any of our citys and lives...and oh they have a radio station in New Orleans just about katrina and those poor folks havent gotten any kind of help still-the insurance companys arent returning calls or they say they are overwhelmed which im sure they are but they keep pushing it off on to someone else-these people need help now!!!
